Beauty and honey

Are you always thinking about going to the spa but can’t afford that high bill that goes along with the pampering of your skin? We have a complete listing of honey recipes that are going to make your skin; your hair and your body feel better all over. Take a night for yourself and use honey to make your body feel better at the same time!

Cleanse your face or any part of your skin with this easy to use scrub. In a bowl, mix up two tablespoons of honey, a teaspoon of lemon juice, a teaspoon of milk, and three tablespoons of ground almonds, or peanuts (salted or unsalted). Your nuts should be so ground that it will seem like powder but when applied to your skin, it will work to clean your pores. Gently smooth this mixture over your skin and let it sit to dry. As the mixture dries, you can then rinse the scrub from your face with a luke warm water, not rubbing too much just rinsing your skin thoroughly.

If you have overly dry skin, you can use honey to add moisture back to your dry skin. What you need to do is mix four tablespoons of honey and three tablespoons of milk together. Apply this over your face and your neck areas or anywhere on your body, that you feel your skin is dry and tight, then just rinse off after a few minutes. You will notice real results.

Are you feeling as if your skin is getting a little loose, losing some of your elasticity? Tighten up your skin with a quick toner that you can use anytime you want a little ‘pick me up’ for your skin. This mixture is gentle enough to use every day, adding nourishment to your skin. Take an apple, peel and core it, and then mash it with your potato masher. Sometimes this is a little easier if you put it in the microwave for a few minutes. Mix this mushy apple with five tablespoons of honey and then you can use this mixture anywhere on your face, arms, or neck that you want to tighten up.

A quick ‘pick me up’ for any area of your body is going to be the use of honey directly on your skin. If you have rough, scaly, or irritable skin, apply honey over these areas leaving the honey to dry, then rinse with warm water for a soft smoother skin.

Here is a recipe for a home facial. What you need is two egg whites, four tablespoons of honey, and just enough flour to make this into a thick paste. Usually about three tablespoons is going to be plenty. Making this mixture and then applying it liberally all over your face, neck or arm areas where you want your skin to feel a little tighter, you can leave this mask on to dry, and then rinse off with liberal amounts of luke warm water.

Is your hair feeling a little on the dry side, could you use a quick pick me up that will make you feel younger, and sexier? Honey is a great hair conditioner that is going to do all of this plus keep your scalp in great shape. What you need to do is to use a cup of honey and a half-cup of olive oil. If you have naturally oily hair, you might want to cut back and use just a quarter cup of olive oil but what you are going to do is massage this into your scalp. The honey is going to work to promote healthiness and the oil is going to add what your hair is naturally missing. After massaging this on, leave it in your hair for about half an hour or longer if you have the time. Then when you are finished pampering yourself with a facial using one of the other recipes in this book, you can shower or bath and wash your hair as usual. You are going to have a great healthy looking hair that you are just going to love!

You already know that honey is used to soften the skin and relax your muscles, but one way that you might not have thought about using honey is in your bath. If you are pampering yourself tonight giving yourself a facial, a deep conditioning or just when you want to relax, you can add honey to your favorite bath time and feel the difference in both your muscles and in your skin when you are finished. What you need to do is to add two cups of honey to a half a tub of warm bath water. You can use honey with your bubble bath if you like for a real treat that will pamper you on the most stressful days!

If you have been thinking that your hair has no shine to it, or if you feel that your hair needs a little extra shine we have a quick fix for you! Honey to the rescue once again. What you need to do is to use a spray bottle with a thick and open nozzle. Using two cups of very warm tap water, mix in two tablespoons of honey and shake well to mix it all together. Spray this on your hair and brush it thoroughly. Leave dry or blow dry, and your will notice your hair will be much shinier! You can use this mixture on color treated or permed hair if you like without worry.
